With increasing globalization, the relentless assault of so called
"Free Trade" and the unbridled advance of technology,
information and communications policies are increasingly global in nature
yet economic and political forces seek to usurp the control and purpose of
communications infrastructure to the benefit of their bottom line and the
prejudice of the vast majority of the rights of human beings across the
planet.
This panel from the 2007 NCMR / National Conference for Media Reform
brought together principals in media and consumer protection fields from
four continents to discuss how they are confronting this challenge in
order to promote and expand freedom of expression, freedom from
repression, and access to information and knowledge that can improve the
lives of, and advance social justice for, billions of people throughout
the world.
The panelists were...
Gene Kimmelman / Moderator
Consumers Union
Luiz Fernando Marrey Moncau /

Rosemary Okello-Orlale / Executive

Bjarne Pedersen
